On Jan. 15, 2013, a grand ceremony was held in Anhui for the construction commencement of Jixi Pumped Storage Project. The project, one of key construction projects of China’s “12^th Five-Year Plan”, is designed by Hydrochina Huadong. Totally, more than 180 persons including the leaders from relevant governmental departments of Anhui Province, Xuancheng City and Jixi County, the representatives of the power station shareholders and the contractors, attended the celebration. Mr. Chen Yining, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hydrochina Huadong, and relevant leaders and representatives from the Project Department attended the ceremony on invitation.

At 8:58 a.m., Luan Jun, member of Party Leadership Group and deputy general manager of the State Grid Corporation, and Tong Huaiwei, secretary of Xuancheng Municipal Party Committee, touched jointly the crystal ball, marking the official commencement of the project construction.

Jixi Pumped Storage Project is located in Fuling Town, Jixi County, Anhui Province, and 29km to the county town. It, as a large-size (1) project, is a pure pumped storage power station of daily regulation. With a total installed capacity of 1800MW and design mean annual energy output of 3.015 billion kW×h, it mainly serves the East China power grid. After completion, it will undertake the tasks of peak regulation, trough filling, frequency regulation, condenser operation and emergency standby, etc.. The construction of the project has important significance in both ensuring the power transmission from Anhui to the East China region and promoting development of clean energy.
