At Longkaikou Hydropower station for which Hydrochina Huadong undertakes engineering survey and design, the first unit (2^# Unit), after 72 hours of trial run, was successfully put into commercial operation at 10:40 of May 21, 2013.

Longkaikou Hydropower Station is located in the Longkaikou Town, Heqing County, Yunnan Province. It is the sixth cascade power station in the hydropower development program of 搊ne reservoir and eight cascade hydropower stations?on the middle reaches of the Jinsha River. It is mainly for power generation and concurrently for irrigation and water supply. The total reservoir capacity is 558 million m? With a total installed capacity of 1800MW, the power station houses five Francis turbine-generator units with unit capacity of 360MW, which are so far the Francis turbine-generator units with the largest runner diameter designed by Hydrochina Huadong and put into operation.

The second unit is planned to put into commercial operation in early June of 2013. Afterwards, the third, fourth and fifth units will be put into operation successively in July 2013, September 2013 and January 2014.
