First Extra-deep Buried Dark Matter Lab of China in Operation at Jinping, Sichuan, Designed with Participation of Hydrochina Huadong
Recently, China’s first extra-deep buried extra-deep buried dark matter lab, China Jinping Dark Matter Laboratory, was officially put into operation at Jinping II Hydropower Project. The operation of this lab buried 2400m underground symbolizes that China has provided with the first-rate clean platform for low-radiation research and can carry out, solely by Chinese people, the international frontline and basic research topics such as detection of dark matters.

China Jinping Dark Matter Laboratory is located on the south side of and parallel to the auxiliary tunnel of the Jinping Hydropower Project. Entrusted by Tsinghua University, Hydrochina Huadong designed the civil works, ventilation, water supply/drainage, electric works and fire control of the underground lab. As the lab is built with high standards and in deep underground where the huge geo-stress once caused severe rock burst, Hydrochina Huadong, bearing in mind the corporate spirit of “Responsible, Efficient and Best”, actively cooperated with the university, participated in formulating and selecting various technical schemes and provided consultancy service by design representatives on site, thus, offering a vigorous technical guarantee to the successful completion of the lab.
