Wulan Phase 2 20MWp PV Project Put into Commercial Operation

On Sep. 3, 2013, with the end of the 240-hour test run, 20 photovoltaic sub-arrays operated normally, Wulan Phase 2 20MWp PV Project, the first large-scale grid-connected PV project designed by Hydrochina Huadong, was officially put into commercial operation.

Located at El.3150m in Wulan County, Qinghai Province, the project covers a land area of 0.55km2. There are totally twenty 1MWp sub-arrays, 85120 polycrystalline silicon modules (235Wp), and one 110kV step-up substation. The plant is connected to the power system by one circuit of 110kV line. The mean annual energy output of 25 years is 31,785,000 kWh, the mean annual operating hours 1589h, and total investment about RMB 264 million.

It is the first large grid-connected photovoltaic power generation project designed by Hydrochina Huadong. The natural condition of the project is harsh, and the construction period is tight. The project construction was started in September 2012, and the grid-connection condition was provided at the end of December 2012 (due to the power transmission works of the grid, official grid connection of the plant was fulfilled on Sep. 3, 2013.). The members of the Hydrochina Huadong Project Team worked overtime, and completed the tendering and construction drawings design in only two months.  They went into the site for technical services, lived with the contractor’s personnel, overcame the unfavorable conditions of the high altitude anoxia, low temperature of -20℃ and gale, and solved the difficulties such as permafrost at construction site, low pressure, flood control, thus, accumulating valuable experience for solar photovoltaic business of Hydrochina Huadong.
