The Fourth Session of Sino-NetherlandDynamic Tidal Power Technical Cooperation Seminar was held on Oct. 8-9, 2013 in Hangzhou. As the major technical supporter of this joint working group on China’s side, Hydrochina Huadong Engineering Corporation hosted this meeting. Those attending the meeting are Dynamic Tidal Power Group of Netherland and the representatives from Hydropower and Water Resources Planning & Design General Institute, the Second Institute of Oceanography of State Oceanic Administration, Hydrochina Huadong, etc.

The power generation technologyfor dynamic tidal energy is a new technology not yet practically used. In order to explore the prospect in application of dynamic tidal energy in China, the two sides established the Sino-Netherland Dynamic Tidal Power Joint Working Group, with Hydropower and Water Resources Planning & Design General Institute as leadon China’s side, As main technical support unit, Hydrochina Huadong assists the General Institute and Netherland’s side in carrying out the relevant co-research. In the previous sessions, both sides reached cognitive consonance in dynamic tidal power generation principle and potential, etc., and initially identified the tidal energy sites for short-term study and the work plan and job division in the next step.

In this conference, the two sides focused on the methodology for preliminary economic analysis on dynamic tidal energy resources along the China’s coast, and determined through discussion the work outline for economic analysis, and identified the sites for further study, the work program and the milestones for the preliminary economic analysis, which laid a solid base for the follow-up work of the Joint Working Group and created favorable conditions for Hydrochina Huadong’s further involvement in the technical research of dynamic tidal energy.
