Sponsored by ECIDI-Bentley China Engineering Design Software Research Center and organized by Hydrochina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation, the “2013 Annual Conference and 3D Project-wise Technical Exchange Conference” was held in Changsha on October 14-15, 2013, for extensive technological exchanges among members of ECIDI/Bentley China Engineering Design Software Research Center, promotion of 3-D co-design technology in China’s engineering industry, better use of advanced IT technologies in engineering design practice, and joint improvement of the industrial level of 3D co-design application. The conference attracted over 160 professionals from over 40 Chinese hydropower design companies.

Five companies were invited to the conference to share their experience in application of 3D ProjectWise digital solutions with the participants. The conference had four interdisciplinary forums respectively themed “3-D Co-Management”, “Civil Engineering / Plant 3-D Technology”, “Geology / Surveying and Mapping 3-D Technology”, “Secondary Development”, where both the issues regarding management and technology were discussed in detail. The participants expressed their opinions actively and discussed the solutions for problems encountered in their 3-D co-design process. Paper Collection Contest for “2013 Annual 3D Project Wise Technical Exchange Conference” was held in the meanwhile and outstanding papers were awarded with prizes.

The successful conference played a very important role in promotion of joint progress in digital engineering for China’s engineering design industry and rapid development of industry-wide 3D digital engineering.
