The contract of MAMLAKA Substation and Transmission Line Project was formally signed by Hydrochina Huadong in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, on Dec. 11, 2013.
This project includes one GIS substation and related transmission lines. Hydrochina Huadongis responsible for the design, supply, transportation, installation, and testing of complete equipment of the transformer, GIS switchgear, the control and protection system and the transmission lines inside and outside the project site as well as civil construction of substation buildings. Through the construction of City Square Project in Nairobi, Hydrochina Huadongaccumulated considerable experience in this sector and won a good reputation in the construction of GIS substation in Kenya, and the demonstration effect was achieved accordingly. Based on the features of geographical location and construction difficulties of MAMLAKA project, Hydrochina Huadong prepared feasible technical and commercial proposals, and finally won the owner’s recognition, and successfully signed the EPC contract of the said project.
Currently, the power construction is in full swing in Kenya and the government of Kenya proposed a target of the construction of the power projects with installed capacity of 5000MW in 40 months and comprehensive upgrading of existing power transmission lines in a large range. Therefore, there is a huge market space for power construction in Kenya. Taking full advantage of the large-scale power construction opportunity, Hydrochina Huadong will make persistent efforts in East Africa region and forge ahead courageously towards its business transformation and building of an international engineering company.
