FLUMILL, NORWAY Invited by Hydrochina Huadong for Technology Exchange in Tidal Current Power Generation

Invited by Hydrochina Huadong, CEO and Vice President of NorwegianFLUMILL and Mr. Lin Song, Senior Business Consultant from Norway Embassy in China, visited Hydrochina Huadong on Apr. 2, 2014 for technical exchange in tidal current power equipment. Attended the conference were professionals of Hydrochina Huadong, mainly from its New Energy Engineering Design Institute, Planning and Development Institute and Hydro-mechanical Engineering Design Division.

The two sides exchanged the information about current development and utilization of tidal current energy and the achievements in ocean energy by Hydrochina Huadong. Guests from FLUMILLintroduced the R&D background, technical advantages and future development plan of FLUMILL Tidal Current Energy Technology, and answered the questions. The relevant issues were discussed in application of Archimedes screw type tidal current power technology in China.

According to introduction, Archimedes screw type tidal current power equipment has the advantages of light overall weight, easy erection and little impact on environment, and can much reduce the project cost as comparing the projects built with other technical equipment. Currently, FLUMILL has completed a quarter of the design in R&D of model machine, and the machine has been tests on the offshore test field of EMEC in Orkney Islands. The company plans to build a 2MW tidal current power station (about 4,800,000 kW per year) in Northern Norway for commercial operation in 2015.

The exchange activity offers Hydrochina Huadong a chance to know well the advanced tidal current power technology in the world and to enhance its technical strength in development of ocean energy resources.
