Contract Signed for Chemosit HPP in Kenya

As one of the China-aided projects in Africa, Chemosit Hydropower Project (HPP) in Kenya, with a total installed capacity of 1350kW, is about 19km away from Kericho, a city in western Kenya. After the completion, it will provide clean and high quality electric power to the local communities with power shortage and promote local social and economic development. Commissioned by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, POWERCHINA HUADONG Engineering Corporation Limited undertakes such tasks as the feasibility inspection, professional survey, and engineering investigation and design of the Project. The feasibility inspection started from December 2011, the professional survey was completed in January 2013, and the site detailed investigation was completed in December 2013. The design contract of the Project was finally signed between the Ministry of Energy of Kenya and POWERCHINA HUADONG on June 26, 2014.
