Kenya City Square Substation Project Completed Formally

    By over two years of unremitting efforts, the construction of the City Square Substation and Associated Lines Project in Kenya was formally completed recently. POWERCHINA HUADONG received the Completion Certificate of the project issued by the Employer on Oct. 8, 2014.

    The EPC Project is located in the center of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. The main scope of the EPC Project includes the electrical and civil works design, manufacture, supply, construction, installation and testing for 2 main transformers (45MVA, 66/11kV), 66kV GIS switchgear, 11kV indoor switchgear, supervisory control and protection, communication and corresponding 66kV and 11kV transmission lines, as well as the site training.

    This project is the first overseas power transmission and transformation EPC project of POWERCHINA HUADONG and is also the first GIS substation of the Employer. All equipment succeeded in once-through electrification and being put into operation. The Employer gave full affirmation on POWERCHINA HUADONG’s design level, product quality, construction quality and service attitude. The GIS switchgear with compact layout is safe and reliable, it is very suitable for use in the city, and it offers a very good mode for the upgrading and rehabilitation of Nairobi power grid, therefore, it has wide prospects.
