On 9—17 March 2015, the 9-day Owner & Consultant’s review meeting on the Technical Design Report of Uganda Karuma Hydropower Project was held in Hangzhou on schedule. 24 personnel from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), Uganda Energy Generation Company (UEG) and India Energy Infratech Private Limited Corporation (EIPL) participated in the meeting. The delegation of the Chinese side was composed of more than 70 representatives from the International Company, Sinohydro Bureau 8 Co., Ltd., Sinohydro Bureau 12 Co., Ltd. and 812 Sinohydro Project Department of the EPC contractor—Sinohydro Corporation Limited, as well as the project team of Powerchina Huadong. Zhou Jianping, chief engineer of Sinohydro Corporation Limited, Wu Guanye, chief engineer, and Hou Jing, vice president of Powerchina Huadong, as well as other leaders of the Overseas Business Department, Hydropower Business Management Department participated in the meeting, group discussions and negotiation respectively.
Considering it as one of the most important design documents of overseas EPC projects, Powerchina Huadong officially submitted the technical design report of the civil works and electromechanical works of Karuma HPP to the Owner and the Consultant in mid 2014. The Owner and the Consultant arranged the most experienced people to carefully review all the report volumes and the special report. The meeting agenda includes: the presentation of the technical design, group discussions, the investigation of model test in Nanjing, and the formation of minutes of the meeting, etc. Both sides communicated and discussed many issues repeatedly in nine days, and completed all the items on the agenda successfully. The minutes of the meeting were officially signed on March 17, and both sides had reached a consensus on most issues.
