On 1-4 July, the Owner’s review meeting on the Technical Design Report of Uganda Karuma Hydropower Project was held at Karuma Project site. The representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), Uganda Energy Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) and India Energy Infratech Private Limited Corporation (EIPL), HydroChina International, Sinohydro Corporation Limited, Huadong Engineering Corporation (Huadong), and other construction subcontractors, equipment suppliers, etc. participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, Huadong reported the electricity compensation scheme for the rise of tailwater level, and the Owner and EIPL fully affirmed the relevant scheme demonstration conducted for compensating the generating head, and it was agreed that the overall technological scheme recommended for the water conveyance system will facilitate the subsequent project implementation. Then, all parties also reached a consensus on the design details of the powerhouse crane girder and the project structures, etc., and thus the 2nd Review Meeting for the Technical Design Reportcame to a successful end.
As one of the most important design documents of overseas EPC projects, the Technical Design Report of Uganda Karuma Hydropower Project was formally submitted to the Owner’s and EIPL’s engineers at the end of 2014. In March 2015, both sides had reached a consensus on most issues at the 1st Review Meeting for the Technical Design Report held in Hangzhou. So far, after the 2nd review meeting, the Technical Design Report of Uganda Karuma Hydropower Project has been completely approved by the Owner and EIPL, which also marked the completion of a major milestone for the design of Karuma HPP.
