Inverse Power Transmission Completed for Sapphire Wind Power Project

At 15:00 of Oct. 6, 2015, local time in Pakistan, the hoisting and installation of the rotor of the last WTG of Sapphire Wind Power EPC Project contracted by Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited (HDEC) was smoothly completed. Thus, the main equipment of the Project has been fully installed. Then on Oct. 8, under the supervision of the Pakistan State Power Grid, the Independent Engineer, the Supervisor and the Project Owner, all associated operations and testing were conducted for the stepup substation of Sapphire Wind Farm and inverse power transmission was completed smoothly. The fulfillment of this milestone symbols all work on the critical path of the stepup substation working face has been fully completed.

The WTGs installation of Sapphire Project was commenced officially upon the delivery of main crane onto the project site in early May this year. The working period was just in the hottest season from May to September with strongest wind speed in this region, the temperature at noon was as high as above 45°, the daytime temperature in the tower was above 50°, the gale more than 10m seldom discontinued, so the working condition and the operating condition were extremely bad. Moreover, there were two long vacations (namely, Lesser Bairam and Corban) in this course, so that the local employees could not adequately work for an entire month, and additionally, the installation team was extremely inadaptable to the extra uncharitable technical and safety requirements as well as the working flow of the WTG manufacturer (GE), the Supervisor and the Project Owner, so the entire installation work went through all kinds of hardships.

The Project Owner is satisfied with the construction quality and progress and expressed heartfelt admiration for HDEC’s employees’ dedication to their duties.
