At 7:30 p.m. of Sept. 25, 2015, local time in Vietnam, the first unit of Dong Nai 5 Hydropower Project, an electromechanical equipment EPC project of Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited (HDEC), succeeded in first startup and all indicators met the requirements of the contract. The unit was successfully connected to the grid on September 30, and smoothly passed 72-hour testrun on October 4.

Dong Nai 5 Hydropower Station with a total installed capacity of 150MW is located on the Dong Nai River on the border between Lam Dong and Dak Nong provinces. The Project Owner is Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited. The Project Owner invests and builds a hydropower station for the first time and lacks knowledge of hydropower equipment and test procedure, so during the project implementation, in order to cooperate with the Project Owner’s plan of power generation ahead of schedule, all members of the Project Management Department of HDEC, with the corporate spirit of “Responsibility, Efficiency and Excellence”, have tried to overcome difficulties since the project commencement and have successfully put the first unit into commercial operation. Both the quality of the equipment supplied and the technical services provided were highly praised by the Project Owner and the Supervisor.

So far, HDEC has completed testing for 11 generating units for its overseas equipment EPC projects this year and put them successively into commercial operation, setting up HDEC’s new record.
