The Asian largest offshore substation designed by Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited for Binhai North H2 Offshore Wind Power Project was successfully installed on May 25, 2017.
SPIC Binhai North H2 Offshore Wind Power Project with an installed capacity of 400MW is the largest offshore wind farm in Asia. The offshore substation for this project is also the first 400MW offshore substation in Asia. A variety of new technologies, new materials and new processes were applied for the first time including the first two 240MVA/220kV LV dual-split main transformers, the 220kV three-core (3×500) cross-linked polyethylene insulated submarine cable with the longest transmission distance in China, the finished outfitting board fire insulation materials, and the underwater grouting connecting technology for pile jackets. As a result, the substation, featured by compact structure, high maintenance applicability, reliable safety, beautiful style, high space utilization and so on, has reached the world first-class level.
In order to successfully complete engineering survey and design of the project, the project team absorbed the design experience in several offshore substations, referred to the world’s most advanced design concept of offshore substation, and fully considered the characteristics of domestic materials and construction equipment, eventually solved more than 10 key technical issues and completed the design with high quality. Through the practice of this project, the technical design capability of Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited in offshore substation has been improved greatly.
