Recently, according to the document of the State Intellectual Property Office on Awarding Awards for the 19th China Patent Award (Guozhifaguanzi [2017] No. 77), an invention patent by PowerChina Huadong in the field of new energy – “Non-transitional Monopile Offshore Wind Turbine Foundation Structure” won the award of 19th National Outstanding Innovation. It also won the Gold Award of the First Session of Zhejiang Outstanding Patent in 2016.
After the patent application, the project manager carried out relevant scientific research and engineering verification. The study confirmed that it is the optimized structure in offshore wind farm featuring fastest construction progress and best quality and economy compared with other types of structure types, and it has been popularized in large scale. At present, over 70% of completed offshore wind farms and those under construction in China have adopted non-transitional monopile foundation technology, drastically reducing the cost of offshore wind power projects and promoting the technological progress of the industry, and contributing significantly to the construction of offshore wind power projects.
