On November 23, the whole 16.55km long tunnel of Northern Hubei Water Resources Allocation Project 15th bid section (hereinafter referred to as “the Project”) was completed jointly by PowerChina Huadong and China Railway 18th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. The Project is a key “13th Five-Year” national construction project as well as “No.1 water conservancy project” in Hubei Province.
Northern Hubei Water Resources Allocation Project is one of the 172 major water saving and water supply projects established by the State Council and the largest water conservancy project under construction in Hubei Province, crowned as “Hubei No.1 Project”. The project is 267 km long in total, covering about a quarter of land area of Hubei Province. After the completion of the project, northern Hubei Province will no longer suffer from the perennial draught, and the production water for 4.7 million mu farmlands and domestic water for 4.8 million people will be sufficient.
The 15th bid section of the Project undertaken by the Consortium of PowerChina Huadong and China Railway 18th Bureau Group Co., Ltd, namely, the tunnel section from Tang County to Shangshi Town, is located in Sui County, Suizhou City, Hubei Province. It is the longest tunnel and main project in North Hubei Water Diversion Project. Since the project commencement, through active organization and meticulous deployment, the project department has tackled difficult problems and constantly achieved staged results. As a compact general contracting project designed and constructed by the consortium, the project serves as a pilot project of PowerChina Huadong in management innovation of EPC projects and plays a positive role in expanding the market.
