SONG TRANG-II and SON LA Hydropower Stations, Vietnam Successful Operation of First Unit
 

On Jan. 7th, 2011, good news came from the overseas market that No.1 Unit for Song Trang-II Hydropower Station was successfully synchronized to the power grid; and on the same day, a grand ceremony was held at the construction site to celebrate the operation of the first unit of Son La Hydropower Station ahead of the schedule, for which HYDROCHINA HUADONG provided the full set of hydraulic mechanical equipment for bottom orifice and corresponding service. The Vietnamese Premier Nguyen Tan Dung Ruan and the General Manager and Deputy Manager of EVN took part in the ceremony at the Son La site and gave their important speeches. Mr. Duan Xiaoping, vice president of Hydrochina Huadong, and the project manager are invited to participate in the ceremony.

Song Trang-II Hydropower Station is located at the middle of Quang Nam Province, the project client is the 3rd Bureau of EVN. The power station has a total installed capacity of 190MW and is equipped with two units with Francis turbines. It is developed for power generation, irrigation and flood control, etc.

Son La Hydropower Station, the largest hydropower station in Vietnam in both unit capacity and total installed capacity so far, is equipped with six 400MW units with a total installed capacity of 2400MW, and praised as the “Three-Gorges Project” in Vietnam. It is mainly for power generation, and concurrently for flood control, irrigation, water supply, navigation and aquatic production, thus, offering benefits for economic development in the northwest Vietnam. Completion of this hydropower station will greatly satisfy the power demand of Vietnam.
