Vietnam’s First Floating PV Project Connected

In April 28, Vietnam DAMI Floating PV Project - the first floating PV project in Vietnam - was connected to the grid successfully. Its EPC services were provided by POWERCHINA Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited.

DAMI project is deployed in Binh Thuan Province of Vietnam at DAMI water reservoir with water depth of 30 m, water level difference at 4.4 m and wave height at 0.5 m. The project has total installed capacity of 47.5 MW, which is the largest floating PV project on construction in Southeast Asia.

In the process of construction, the project team had encountered a series of difficulties caused by high contract standard, tight work schedule, too many sub packages, complicated construction interface, high risk in water-based operation and progress delay in civil work space. In response to the challenges, the whole project focused on promoting the project management, organized and coordinated the work elaborately. After days and nights, the project was finally completed successfully.

DAMI floating PV project, built on the DAMI reservoir, has not just saved the utilization of land, but also improved the amount of energy output markedly by taking the advantage of water surface reflection and water-cooling effect, and as well it also plays a critical role in reducing the emission of greenhouse gases. The implementation and construction of the project will actively foster the economic and social development in the locality, and create new jobs.
