On May 24, the summing-up meeting for field safety inspection for initial dam registration of Three Gorges Project was convened. Totally 41 conventioners attended the meeting, including director Han Shui and deputy director Chi Jianjun from Safety Supervision Bureau of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC), director He Zhaocheng and deputy director Luo Yifang from Mid China Supervision Bureau of SERC, deputy director He Haiyuan from Large Dam Safety Supervision Center (LDSSC) under SERC, members of the field inspection group from LDSSC, and leaders from Construction and Operation Administration of Three Gorges Project and China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd. The meeting adopted the opinions regarding the field inspection for initial dam registration of the Three Gorges Dam and it was considered that the dam had been provided with conditions for initial dam registration.
SERC and China Three Gorges Corporation highly value the registration of the Three Gorges Dam. In late February, as the operative and administrative company, the Construction and Operation Administration of Three Gorges Project filed an application of initial registration to LDSSC and made aborative preparations under the guidance of LDSSC. Since May 21, an inspection team composed of 12 persons from LDSSC and Mid China Supervision Bureau carried out a four-day field inspection for the Three Gorges Dam. Vice Chairman Shi Yubo of SERC designated Han shui to the inspection for guidance. Through field inspection and management performance examination, the inspection team reached consensus and deemed that the safety administration of the Three Gorges Dam had met the requirement for initial dam registration. On behalf of Shi Yubo, Han Shui affirmed the operation and management work regarding dam safety conducted by the Construction and Operation Administration of Three Gorges Project and China Yangtze Power Co., LTD.
The Three Gorges Dam has passed the field safety inspection for initial registration. After being approved by SERC, the Three Gorges Dam, the dam of the largest water conservancy project in the world, will be officially brought under the supervision of SERC.
