On the afternoon of June 6, 2012, Nairobi, Kenya, a commencement ceremony was held for the City Square Substation and Associated Lines Projectfor which HydroChina Huadong undertakes design and equipment supply. At the ceremony, on behalf of Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited, Mr. Stanley Mutwiri, the team leader of the Project Owner ESRP, first gave a speech. He spoke highly of HydroChina Huadong’s work progress after the signing of the contract and gave earnest expectations of the project. He hoped that this project, which is the first one adopting GIS in Kenya, could be completed within the scheduled time and with excellent quality according to the contract. Subsequently, Mr. Charles Ooko, the project manager of the Project Owner, gave his speech. He expressed his gratitude to HydroChina Hudong for its positive efforts in the project and then put forward his requirements and expectations for the implementation of the project.

 Also present at the ceremony was Mr. Han Jun, Chairman of Kenya Overseas Chinese Association, China General Chamber of Commerce in Eastern Africa and China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification in Eastern Africa. He congratulated on the commencement of the project.

Stanley Mutwiri, Charles Ooko, Han Jun, Li Kang, project manager of Hydrochina Huadong, and Deng Changwu, Chairman of Directors of Danaff Kenya Company LTD – the local partner company – cut the ribbon at the ceremony and announced the official commencement of the project.

The ceremony was reported by the media including CCTV Africa, CRI Africa Headquarters and the local TV station KNA, etc. On behalf of HydroChina Huadong, Chen Long, deputy director of Hydrochina Huadong Kenya Office, received the interview.
