10 AM, June 13, 2012, after one hour’s concerted efforts of all parties involved in the construction, the runner of the first unit of Longkaikou Hydropower Station was successfully hoisted into the unit pit and put in place.

The runner was designed by Harbin Electric Machinery Company Limited (HEC) and fabricated by components at the site. Composed of the upper rim, band and 13 blades, HLA 994-LJ-800 runner is assembled and welded with components. Its max. outside diameter is 8590 mm, the height is 4702 mm and weight around 250 tons. Hoisted together with the runner is an 87ton turbine main shaft, with a total hoisting weight of 337 tons.
