On August 9, 2012, with concertedefforts of all parties concerned, a 15-day test-run of the Unit 3 of Xiangshuijian Pumped Storage Project (PSP) investigated and designed by HydroChina Huadong was successfully completed following the commercial operation of Units 1 and 2 respectively at the end of December 2011 and on April 25 2012. As a result, Unit 3 was put into commercial operation 52 days ahead of schedule. Its start-up and testing was launched on June 10. On July 17, nineteen prescribed tests and back-to-back start-up tests between Unit 3 and Units 1 and 2 were finished. On July 21, the full-load closing test in flowing water for the spherical valve of Unit 3 was qualified, with an axial displacement only 0.23mm, and the parameters of the unit and the transient processall met the values as required in the contract and the calculated values. Currently, the storage level of the upper reservoir is 218.2m (the normal storage level is 222m), while the storage level of the lower reservoir is 11.4m (the normal storage level is 14.6m). And the project has been running normally. The water conveyance system of Unit 4 is under water filling and drainage test and   it is estimated that Unit 4 will be put into operation at the end of 2012.
