HydroChina Huadong Obtained Grants from National Natural Science Foundation

On August 17, 2012, the assessment result of the 2012 National Natural Science Foundation was published. The 2012 National Natural Science Foundation of China (Youth Science Foundation) was granted to Hydrochina Huadong’s scientific research projects, “Numerical Simulation and Experimental Study of A New Type of Wing-Monopile for Offshore Wind Turbine” and “Study on the Measuring Method and Control Standards for the Content of Free Mica in Manufactured Sand”, proposed respectively by post-doctors, Li Wei and Li Xinyu. Thus, HydroChina Huadong has won grants from National Natural Science Foundation (Youth Science Fund) for two projects in two consecutive years. Last year, two research projects of the post-doctors won such grants, one is Xu Xueyong’s “Study on Coupling Response Features and Failure Mechanism of Soft Soil-Structure under the Action of Explosion” and the other is Liu Ning’s “Assessment on the Time Effect of the Fracture and Extension of Deep-Buried Marbles and the Long-Term Stability of Caverns”.

HydroChina Huadong has been dedicated to technological innovation and high-level talent training. It has successively established various scientific research platforms such as Post-Doctoral Scientific Research Workstation, Pumped Storage Engineering Center of Zhejiang Province, Offshore Wind Power Engineering Center, Industry-University-Research Institute Alliance for Wind Power Engineering Technology, HydroChina-Itasca R&D Center, a company incorporated with Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IRSM CAS) and US-based ITASCA and providing hi-tech consultation, and the material structure laboratory set up in conjunction with Zhejiang University. Additionally, in 2012, HydroChina Huadong launched the establishment of innovation platforms such as Zhejiang Provincial Academician Expert Workstation, and Zhejiang Engineering Digitalization Technology Research Center (Provincial Key Laboratory). Relying on such innovation platforms, HydroChina Huadong has attracted a batch of academicians at home and abroad to participate in scientific innovations and assist scientific research and technical personnel training. In 2012, subject to appraisal, HydroChina Huadong has been promoted to a model innovative enterpriseof Zhejiang Province.
