October 15-16, 2012, Hangzhou, Hydrochina Huadong Engineering Corporation (ECIDI), Bentley Systems Incorporated, ECIDI/Bentley China Engineering Design Software Research Center and Zhejiang Provincial Digital Engineering Research Center held a 3D ProjectWise technical exchange conference under the theme “Working Smarterand Collaborative Innovation”. The conference attracted over 180 people from 25 hydroelectric power design companies all over China.

Mr. Zhang Chunsheng, president of ECIDI, firstly made a speech regarding ECIDI’s experience in application and advancing of 3D ProjectWise technology. Mr. Malcolm Walter, COO of Bentley, addressed the conference on behalf of Bentley Systems Incorporated. Mr. Walter said that the frequent communication between the top management of the two companies helped Bentley pay more attention to China’s booming engineering market. To meet the market development demands, Bentley has restructured its organization and HR delivery system. Mr. Walter also undertook that Bentley would enhance technical support services of Bentley products so as to catch up with the soaring infrastructure construction in China.

The representatives from five companies, namely, Hydrochina Huadong Engineering Corporation, Hydrochina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation, Heilongjiang Hydropower Investigation and Design Institute, Henan Electric Power Survey & Design Institute, Chongqing CISDI Metallurgical Technology Co., who were invited to address the conference, reported the update application of 3D ProjectWise in their respective fields. The conference had three interdisciplinary seminars respectively themed “Management / Popularization”, “Civil Engineering / Geology”, “Plant / Integration” which attracted experts from attending companies to make special technical reports and promoted active academic discussion and technical exchange among the participants.

The attending parties of the conference expressed their gratitude to ECIDI/Bentley China Engineering Design Software Research Center for the organization of this high-level technical exchange conference and highly praised the state-of-the-art technical achievements made by Hydrochina Huadong and the open access mechanism of the Center which has been acknowledged to take the lead in China’s engineering design field and facilitate positive progress of engineering 3D digital technologies.
