October 18-19, 2012, Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CSRME) held its 7^th Members Meeting in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, which attracted over 500 people from universities, sci-tech research institutes, engineering design firms, projects owners and construction parties. Mr. Hou Jing, vice president of Hydrochina Huadong Engineering Corporation, and some other engineers from the company attended the meeting.

An awards ceremony was held at the meeting to honor companies which made achievements in respective fields with awards including CSRME Sci-tech Progress Award, Young Achiever Award, and Outstanding Doctorate Dissertation Awards. Thanks to its outstanding finding, “Quick and Dynamic Feedback Analysis Approach and Closed-loop Optimal Designfor Large and Complicated Underground Caverns”, based on engineering practice in Jinping- II Hydropower Station, Hydrochina Huadong was awarded Outstanding Award for Sci-tech Progress.

The meeting elected the 7^th Board of Directors of CSRME, for which, Prof. Qian Qihu and Prof. Feng Xiating were both elected as the chairpersons and Mr. Zhang Chunsheng, president of Hydrochina Huadong was elected as one of the executive directors. Winning of this outstanding award will spur more engineers of Hydrochina Huadong to take initiatives to engage in technical innovations.
