On Nov. 20, 2012, Hydrochina Huadong received the formal Letter of Award and the signed Contract Agreement of the complete equipment supply for the rehabilitation of the turbine and corresponding accessories of Boali 1 HPP from the Electric Power Bureau of Central African Republic (Energie Centrafricaine).
The Boali 1 HPP, one of the only two hydropower plants that supply power for the country, is located in the Boali River basin in Central African Republic. Both Boali 1 HPP and the China-aided Boali 3 HPP for which Hydrochina Huadong is designing are cascaded hydropower plants. Completed in 1956, the Boali 1 HPP is equipped with five 2.2MVA horizontal Francis twin-runner turbine-generator units, with a total installed capacity of 11MVA (equivalent to 8.5MW).The work scope of the Contract includes the supply, installation and debugging of five turbines, governors and corresponding accessories.
The Rehabilitation Project of Boali 1 HPP is a project loaned by International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank. The signing of the Contract will not only offer strong support for the power supply of Central African Republic, but also indicates the first step of Hydrochina Huadong to expand its business in Central Africa. In addition, it further proves Hydrochina Huadong’s competence and courage to undertake projects independently in Africa and even in the whole globe.
