Zhejiang Qiantang River Basin Small Town Environment Project, consulted by Huadong Engineering Corporation, was decorated by World Bank’s Vice Presidency Award for Sustainable Development in the fiscal year 2018, among other 14 projects around the globe. It was the first project winning a World Bank award in Zhejiang Province, and also the very first World Bank-funded international consulting project undertaken by HDEC. Zhejiang Daily offered a front-page report covering the awarding on July 12.

Upon completion of the project, the suburbs under the treatment had seen a soaring rate of sewage recovery from 60% to 80%-90%, and waste recovery and disposal from 77% to 100%, suggesting a major enhance to the suburban infrastructures management. The project, as the World Bank believed, “demonstrated a successful adaptation of a comprehensive solution of sustainable urban infrastructure delivery and service in suburban areas.”
