On March 8, inverse power transmission was successfully completed in the Expansion Project of Ao Phai 230/115kV GIS Transformer Substation contracted by HDEC as EPC project, which indicated the achievement of another important milestone after the 230kV GIS HV test, and that the Ao Phai Project formally entered the countdown to completion.
The Ao Phai Project in Thailand was the first transformer substation project of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand contracted by a Chinese enterprise in the EPC mode, and one of the large-scale load-center substations in Eastern Economic Corridor of Thailand. The Project, once completed, will be able to provide stable power to Laem Charbang Port (the largest port in Thailand), to oil industry in Thailand, to Pattaya (a tourist city), to Thai-Chinese Rayong Industrial Zone etc. The Project consists of 2 GIS buildings, 1 building for switchgears, auxiliary structures and equipment.
We have experienced a hard process to achieve the Project. Against the influence by COVID-19, the project team overcame the difficulties including subcontractor's suspension in provision of services, reduction of labor and obstruction to prevent Chinese personnel from returning to the project site. The project team never left the project site and made joint efforts to minimize the influence of COVID-19 on construction of the Project, and had successfully promoted the smooth progress of the Project.
