Ghana, March 25 – The groundbreaking ceremony of selected Roads and Interchanges Project in Ghana Phase 1 Lot 2 (Kumasi Inner City Roads) was successfully held at 10 am in Kumasi where the project is located, organized jointly by the project department and the owner.
The Vice President of Ghana, Chinese Ambassador Mr. Lu Kun, officials from Ghanaian Government and Chinese Embassy, leaders from POWERCHINA Ghana and HDEC International as well as local representatives attended the groundbreaking ceremony. The ceremony began with solemn and quiet prayers, followed by the performance of the Ghanaian National Anthem by the Ghana Police Symphony Orchestra. Ambassador Lu Kun delivered a speech at the ceremony and he emphasized that China and Ghana had always been good friends, partners and brothers. China attached great importance to China-Africa relations and encouraged us to work together with the Ghanaian people, making sure that the project was completed on schedule and with high quality. At last, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the project department for the preparations of the ceremony.
The project covers eleven districts of Kumasi City, with a total length of 87.76 km, all of which are old road upgrading and reconstruction projects using asphalt surface pavement. The main transportation mode of travel in this area is road traffic. Therefore, the local road management department pays great attention to the implementation of the project. The completion of this project will greatly facilitate the travel of people along the line, increase their communication with the outside world, and greatly accelerate the development of local social economy and the development of local tourism. At the same time, during the construction of the project, it will create a lot of job opportunities for local people.
The groundbreaking ceremony greatly boosted the morale of all the members of the project department, clarified the goals of the project once again, and strengthened our determination to move forward. The Lot 2 project department will continue to uphold the spirit of “Responsibility, Efficiency and Excellence”, rise to difficulties and create a high-quality project of HDEC in Africa.
