6 February, 2023, the vice president of Laos, Dr. Bounsthong Chitmany visits the Monsoon wind power EPC project with officials of Sekong Province.
The project department introduced the process and situation of whole project, including the overview of project, each parties of this project, road construction process, utilisation of local recourses, and other work on the site. In addition, they also show Dr. Bounsthong Chitmany the construction situation of project site.
Dr. Bounsthong Chitmany states that Monsoon project is the first wind power project of Laos, which will push the development of economy. In addition, he furthers that, local governments need to give a help for this project, while hoping the project department could employ local workers to take part in the construction. He then shows his appreciate to the project team, thanks for their hard-working and their professional spirit. The visit of Dr. Bounsthong Chitmany shows the importance of this project, and also do well to proceed the construction of this project.
The Monsoon wind power project is an important achievement of HDEC practicing “One Belt and Road” Initiative. The scope of the project includes a 600MW wind power farm, 5 booster stations and 500kV transmission lines and so on. It is the first wind power project in Laos and also is the biggest overseas wind power project of POWERCHINA. After completion, it will mainly transmit electricity to Vietnam, which will be the first time of Laos to transmit renewable energy electricity to other countries. It will relieve the electricity short supply situation of Middle of Vietnam, and help Laos to achieve its strategy of building “Accumulator of Southeast Asia”.
