Monsoon 600MW Wind Power EPC Project in Laos Signed Successfully

In the morning of 14 November afternoon, the signing memory of the EPC contract of Monsoon 600MW Wind Power Project between POWERCHINA and MONSOON WIND POWER COMPANY LIMITED is held. The General Manager of POWERCHINA INTL Ji Xiaoyong, the Chief Executive Officer Peck Khamkanist, Chief Operating Officer Nat Hutanuwatr of Impact Energy Asia Development Limited (IEAD), and the President Niwat Adirek of BCPG present the ceremony. In addition, the Deputy General Manager of POWERCHINA INTL, Zhou Jiayi, the Deputy General Manager of HDEC, Liu Minghua, colleagues of Renewable Energy Institute of HDEC and General Manager of Laos Company of Sinohydro Bureau 10 Co., Ltd., Yu Mingchuan take part in the ceremony.

Before signing ceremony, two parties had a friendly meeting. The General Manager Ji Xiaoyong states that this project can be signed finally should thanks for the trust of the owner and shareholder. He further claims that POWERCHINA will sincerely cooperate with the owner, and work in one heart to make sure this project could become a significant renewable energy project in Southeast project so that it could become the basement of long term cooperation between two parties.

Nat, The Chief Operating Officer of IEAD, admired the power and professional spirit of POWERCHINA and HDEC. He also wishes the successful completion of the project and the further cooperation between two parties.

The scope of the project includes a 600MW wind power farm, 5 booster stations and 500kV transmission lines and so on. It is the first wind power project in Laos and also is the biggest overseas wind power project of POWERCHINA. After completion, it will mainly transmit electricity to Vietnam, which will be the first time of Laos to transmit renewable energy electricity to other countries. It will relieve the electricity short supply situation of Middle of Vietnam, and help Laos to achieve its strategy of building “Accumulator of Southeast Asia”. The estimated carbon emission reduction will achieve 35,000,000 tons in the whole project life cycle. Therefore, this project can be named as a practice for HDEC in green energy revolution area, and is a break through of pushing the energy transition of Asia-Pacific area.
