On October 28, 2023, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Public Health of Nigeria held a meeting in Sokoto State on the completion and acceptance of the Goronio Dam restoration and river improvement project of the Middle Lima River Valley irrigation plan in Nigeria, and signed the transfer certificate on October 30, marking the formal completion of the project into the warranty period.

The project is located in Sokoto State, Nigeria, the main contract includes Goronio main and auxiliary dam and emergency spillway repair, the construction of three new flood dykes, river dredging and dam safety monitoring system and mechanical and electrical equipment installation, commissioning, the project period is 18 months. The project is owned by the Irrigation Rehabilitation Administration under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Public Health of Nigeria and funded by a loan from the World Bank.

The successful completion of the project will promote the seasonal macro-control of the entire basin, strengthen the water level regulation capacity of the Middle Lima Valley region, achieve the purpose of diverting flood, adjusting surplus and shortage, balancing supply and demand, and ensure the agricultural irrigation water in the entire northwest of Nigeria.

This project is the first overseas water conservancy and irrigation project of HDEC, and also the first SCADA system designed by us for regional irrigation system in Africa. Adhering to the enterprise spirit of "responsibility, efficiency and excellence", the Project Department has been united and concentrated. In the face of difficulties such as scattered work areas, high local epidemic diseases such as epidemic and malaria, and extremely high non-traditional security risks, the project has established a sound standard through reasonable planning Pole level security system to ensure the personal safety of construction personnel, as well as the practice of comprehensive localization strategy, recruit and train a large number of local labor, to promote the construction of the project, strict quality control, to ensure the project completed on schedule and smooth transfer, won the owner's comprehensive praise, and sent to the project department thank you letter and excellent project certificate.

The implementation process of the project has been strongly supported by the leaders of HDEC, HDEC International and the African regional headquarters of HDEC. This project is a successful attempt of ECNU in overseas water conservancy irrigation market, which has accumulated experience for the implementation of follow-up similar projects of ECNU in Africa, established a good reputation in the Nigerian market, improved the brand influence, and will further help the subsequent market development of ECNU in the region.
