On March 13th, 2024, the hoisting of the first wind turbine in Egypt's Amunet 500MW Wind Power Project contracted by HDEC was successfully completed. This marks that the project has fully entered the stage of wind turbine hoisting after civil construction reached its peak, and another key progress has been made to realize the goal of grid-connected power generation of HDEC’s first wind power project in Egypt.
Egypt Amunet 500MW Wind Power Project is located 300km southeast of Cairo. It is the wind power project with the largest capacity undertaken by HDEC in Africa and also the wind power project with the largest single-unit capacity in Egypt. There are 77 EN171-6. 5MW model WTGSs, with an impeller diameter of 171m (single blade length is 84m) and a hub center height of 94.5m. With fast wind speed at the site. during the gale season, the maximum wind speed can reach 28m/s, and the annual average wind speed can hit 9-10m/s, which brings great challenges to the hoisting work.
Concerning the fast wind speed and large weight of a single WTG at the project site, the project department conducted thorough organization and planning. According to the site road and machine position conditions, XCMG XGC12000tm and XCMG XGC800-I crawler cranes were selected as the main cranes, and the whole-machine direct traveling mode was adopted for transition. Before hoisting, HDEC organized an internal hoisting scheme simulation and expert review meeting to optimize the hoisting construction scheme and procure the safety of the hoisting. At the same time, the project department discussed and reviewed the hoisting scheme with the owner and the supervisor for several rounds, which finally gained affirmation, laying a solid foundation for the smooth completion of this first lifting work.
The successful hoisting of the first WTGS in this project has won the recognition of the owner of the project, injecting strong confidence into the following hoisting work and the successful performance of the project. The project department will give full play to the professional superior resources of HDEC team in construction management, safety control and hoisting technology to ensure the smooth progress and successful implementation of the project, committing itself to achieving high quality, high standard and timely delivery of the project.
