HDEC Successfully Signed the PV3 Photovoltaic Project in UAE

On the afternoon of July 2, UAE local time, the joint venture form by POWERCHINA, HDEC, the owner EDFR and Korean Western Power officially signed the EPC contract for Al Ajiban Solar PV Plant in the UAE. Peng Gang Deputy general manager of Overseas Business Unit (POWERCHINA International) and General Manager of Middle East and North Africa Regional Headquarter of POWERCHINA, Francois DAO Vice President of EDFR, Olivier Border CEO of EDFR Dubai, Ko, Youn Ho Managing Director of International and New Energy Division of Korea Western Power Company, related personnel of POWERCHINA Middle East and North Africa Regional headquarter, HDEC Middle East and North Africa Regional headquarter and Project Department attended the signing ceremony.

 

PV3 project is located in Ajban area, northeast of ABU Dhabi, covering an area of about 20km2, with the total installed capacity of the DC side of the project about 1.8GW. The scope of work includes the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and trial operation for the photovoltaic field and supporting 400kV booster station. This project is the overseas PV EPC project with the largest single installed capacity of HDEC and even POWERCHINA Group. It is not only the first project that HDEC has cooperated with global customer EDFR in the Middle East and North Africa region, but also the first time we expanded the cooperation with Korean developers. Once upon completion, the project is expected to supply power to nearly 160,000 households, reduce carbon emissions by 2.4 million tons per year. It will help UAE achieve economical and social sustainable development, and is of great significance to the realization of "UAE Energy Strategy 2050" and "Abu Dhabi Clean Energy Strategic Goal 2035". In the speech at the signing ceremony, Francois DAO affirmed the professional and responsible attitude of the HDEC in the bidding process of the project, and was full of confidence in the smooth performance of the project. He also stressed that EDFR and Korea Western Power cherished the partnership and deep friendship that they established with HDEC in the PV3 project in the past one and a half years, hope to further strengthen and deepen cooperation with HDEC.


The signing of the project has realized the continuous implementation and deep development of HDEC in the United Arab Emirates after the successful completion of the UAE wind power project. It consolidated the market of HDEC in the renewable energy field in the Middle East and North Africa region, and laid a solid foundation for further deepening cooperation with EDFR of France and South Korea Western Power.
