On the afternoon of June 27, 2025, local time in Chile, PowerChina International Group Limited-Chile Branch, HDEC, and GM Developments SpA formally signed the EPC general contract for the Dune Plus Photovoltaic Storage Project in Chile.
The project is located in the city of Maria Elena, Antofagasta Region, northern Chile, approximately 1,300 kilometers from the capital, Santiago, in the immediate vicinity of our successfully delivered CEME1 photovoltaic project in Chile. This project is divided into three parts including a new 1,334 MWh energy storage power plant within the existing CEME1 project site, a new 186 MWp photovoltaic and 702 MWh energy storage power plant south of the CEME1, and designing, procuring, supplying, installing, constructing, and commissioning the supporting facilities for the CEME1 project substation renovation. Upon completion, 682 GWh of annual grid curtailment will be reduced, effectively alleviating peak-period load pressure on Chile Power Grid and enhancing grid stability.
The Dune Plus Photovoltaic Storage Project is the second project signed between HDEC and the Chilean client GM Company, as well the largest single-unit installed capacity energy storage EPC turnkey project undertaken by HDEC and PowerChina in Americas region. HDEC will leverage its technical and management advantages to scientifically manage and meticulously organize the project, steadily advancing all tasks to ensure successful contract fulfillment. The signing of this project achieves our institute’s continued commitment and deepening involvement in Chile, consolidates HDEC’s market position in the new engergy area in the Americas region, and further empowers our institute’s high-quality development in the Chilean and American markets.
