On July 25, 2025, Mr. Luca Silva, Chief Operating Officer of South African renewable energy developer Red Rocket South Africa (Pty) Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Red Rocket”), accompanied by Mr. Malte Meyer, Head of Strategic Procurement, and the delegation visited our institute for inspection and exchange. Mr. Shi Leiming, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board Institute of HDEC, and Mr. Liu Jiajin, Deputy General Manager attended the meeting. Relevant representatives from secondary units including the HDEC International, Zhejiang Huadong Engineering Construction Management Co. LTD., and Africa Region participated in the engagement.
Mr. Shi Leiming, representing PowerChina HuaDong Engineering Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “HDEC”), extended warm welcome to the delegation led by Mr. Luca Silva. He provided an overview of business portfolio of HDEC, reviewed the history of bilateral cooperation, and expressed prospects for future collaboration in South Africa and neighboring countries. Mr. Liu Jiajin expressed gratitude for Red Rocket’s substantial support in the South Africa market, acknowledging Red Rocket as HDEC’s largest client in the renewable energy sector within this core country market. He committed to coordinating resources for the effective execution of ongoing projects and pledged active support for Red Rocket’s market development initiative across Southern Africa. Mr. Luca Silva highly commended the corporate culture and international concept of HDEC. He recognized HDEC’s efforts and value created in existing projects, praising its standing as a highly internationalized and reliable partner. Mr. Silva further indicated Red Rocket’s plans to expand wind power and energy storage developments across Southern Africa, expressing anticipation for continued cooperation enthusiasm of HDEC to jointly witness market prosperity with Red Rocket, and deepen business collaboration.
Red Rocket stands as South Africa’s leading indigenous renewable energy developer and serves as an important client for out institute in the Africa region. The company has currently contracted with HDEC for the execution of the 275 MW Solar PV Project in Virginia and the 335 MW Solar PV Project in Tourne. Subsequently, Red Rocket plans to develop the approximately 2 GW Soyuz Wind Power Project Cluster and the approximately 1.4 GW Solar PV Project Cluster in South Africa. The company maintains a considerably active presence in renewable energy markets across neighboring countries including Zambia and Botswana, signifying substantial prospects for future bilateral cooperation. This executive delegation visit of Red Rocket has further deepened mutual exchange and trust between both parties, which has effectively facilitated project performance in South Africa and enhanced key account management within the region, embodying profound significance for HDEC’s business expansion across the Southern African market.
